Nina Kathleen Wagner, 77, died Wednesday (Dec. 23, 2009), at the Hillcrest Nursing Home in McCook.

She was born Sept. 30, 1932, the daughter of the late August and Mildred (Rathe) Wegener, northwest of McCook, where she grew up on the family farm and graduated from the Perry Rural School. She worked for Pat's Bootery and Woolworths in McCook.

On Aug. 15, 1954, Nina married Jack Leon Wagner and they spent their married lives farming northwest of Culbertson. Nina and Jack moved to their retirement home west of Culbertson in 1982.

Nina was baptized at Peace Lutheran Church in McCook in 1933, and transferred her membership to St. John's Lutheran Church in Culbertson in 1954.

Nina was an active homemaker who enjoyed sewing for her family, Bible Study, collecting dolls, cooking and baking, singing in the church choir, gardening and flowers, reading novels, playing cards and board games, puzzles, Sunday dinners and spending time with her family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack, on Feb. 12, 2002; one daughter, Elizabeth Wagner, in December 1956; three brothers, Milton, Kenny, Dwayne; and three sisters, Inna, Joanne and Lucille.

Nina is survived by three sons, Michael Wagner, Todd Wagner and wife, Cindee, Loren Wagner and wife, Angela, all of Culbertson; one daughter, Kathleen Dillon and husband, Jeff of Kearney; three brothers, Harold Wegener and wife, Joyce of Fresno, Calif., Eldon Wegener and wife, Gayle of Littleton, Colo., Gene Wegener and wife, Charlene of Bellevue; two sisters, Ona Bamesberger and husband, Kenneth of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Donna Greene and husband, Robert of Denver, Colo; 15 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and other relatives and friends.

Funeral service will be Monday, 10:30 a.m., at St. John's Lutheran Church in Culbertson, with the Rev. Brad Rick officiating. Interment will be at the Culbertson Cemetery.

Visitation will be Saturday and Sunday, at Herrmann Funeral Chapel in Culbertson, from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Memorials may be given in her name.
