Robert "Mush" William Keslin, 82, died Monday (Dec. 14, 2009), at Hillcrest Nursing Home.
Bob was born on Dec. 6, 1927, at Chicago, Ill., to Emil Rudolph and Mary Elizabeth (Buick) Keslinke. He graduated from Schurz High School in Chicago in 1954.
On Aug. 29, 1945, he entered the US Navy and served during World War II. He was honorably discharged on Dec. 3, 1948.
He was united in marriage to Gladys Rose Myszker on March 17, 1962. She preceded him in death on July 3, 1973. He was later married to Mary (Martin) Deaton on Oct. 15, 1976 in Dundee, Ill.
Bob had lived in the McCook community for the past 21 years where he was a truck driver and had his own construction company. He was a member of First Congregational Church and Masonic Blue Lodge. He loved antique cars, his dogs and tinkering in his garage.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Emil and Mary, and wife, Gladys.
Survivors include his wife Mary; sons, Robert Grant Keslin and wife, Sandra, of Antioch, Ill., and Kenneth Emil Keslin and wife, Jessi, of McCook; step-daughter, Catherine and husband, Park McGehee, of Opelika, Ala.; brother, Richard Keslinke and wife, Nola, of Aurora, Ill.; sisters, Dolores Frank of Sylva, N.C., and Mary Ann and husband, Chet Duckert of Waukesha, Wis.; four grandchildren, Garrett Dagostin, Mary Claire Dagostin, Kora Keslin and Van Keslin.
Memorial and Masonic services will be Thursday (Dec. 17, 2009), 2 p.m. at The First Congregational Church with Pastor Steve Bales officiating. Inurnment will be at Fort McPherson National Cemetery with military honors.
