Feb. 29, 1916 - Dec. 8, 2009

EMMETT, Idaho -- Esther Redtfeldt, 93, died Tuesday (Dec. 8, 2009) at Walter Knox Memorial Hospital, in Emmett, with her family at her side.

Esther was born on Feb. 29, 1916, in Danbury, to Elizabeth and Frank Thomas. She spent her childhood growing up on a farm in Nebraska, with her brother Delmer and sister Marie.

On Feb. 11, 1936, Esther married her beloved husband Robert (Bob) Redtfeldt, in Danbury. Just a few months after their marriage Esther and Bob moved to Mountain Home, Idaho, where they both worked on the Bennett Ranch. After one year they moved to Ola, Idaho, to work on the Bicknell Ranch. Soon after they started a family and moved to Emmett, where Esther was a homemaker and helped Bob with the dairy farm they owned. When all four of her children were in school Esther began working on the production line at Ore/Ida. After 18 years of work at Ore/Ida Esther retired and joined the Quilt Club, Ladies Aid, and was the secretary and cook at Central Mesa Grange.

Esther's retirement was spent growing the most beautiful roses and the tastiest vegetables in Gem county. Esther enjoyed spoiling her grandchildren with unconditional love, wisdom, acceptance and occasionally a dish of homemade macaroni and cheese which was her specialty. Grandma's spirituality and love for the Lord was abundant and inspirational. While we all miss our beloved Grandmother, we smile knowing she is reunited with Grandpa, and many friends and family members who left this earth before her.

Esther is survived by her children and their spouses, Larry Redtfeldt and Margaret McCalister, Anita Johnson, Linda Redtfeldt, Kathy and Terry Bean; her grandchildren and their spouses, Robert and Michelle Redtfeldt, Raquel and Micah Pancyzk, Tiffany and Matt Mason, Shelley Lankford, Brian and Corinne Redtfeldt, Michael and Julie Bean, Michelle and Matt Richmond, Stacey and Matt Wescott, and Patty Davis; great-grandchildren Kenny, Madison, Nicholas, Liberty, Emma, Kyle, Carly, Shanda, Bre, Kevin, Johnathon, Christopher, David, Donovon, Maxwell, Michael, Josie, Ashley, Karla, Anthony and Kaylee.

Funeral services will be conducted today, at 2 p.m., at the Potter Funeral Chapel in Emmett. Interment will follow in the Emmett Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, 6901 W. Emerald St., Suite 207, Boise, Idaho 83704.
