Kenneth W. Ellis, MD, McCook, Neb., age 72, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, Dec. 4, 2009.
Kenneth was born in Cambridge, Neb., on May 21, 1937, the son of Orville and Pearl (Roberts) Ellis.
Kenneth was a pioneer orthopedic surgeon in Kearney for 26 ½ years and established the Kearney Orthopedic and Fracture Clinic in 1973. In 1995 he joined Dr. Richard Slovek in McCook and practiced medicine another 13 years. From February through September 2009 he was employed by Womack Army Medical Center, Fort Bragg, Fayetteville, N.C.
He was preceded in death by his mother, father, and brother, Dale.
Surviving are his wife of 50 years, Carolyn (Lorance); children: Bradley (Kelly), Brenda (Dick) Nelson, and Jeffrey (Sonya); grandchildren: Philip and Eva; brother, Paul; and various cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Memorials may be given in his name.
Memorial services will be Tuesday, 11 a.m., at the Evangelical Free Church in McCook with Pastor Bruce Lester officiating. Inurnment will be in the Kearney Cemetery at a later date.
