Funeral services for Karen Lynn Reiners will be Thursday at 11 a.m., at St. John's Lutheran Church in Culbertson. Inurnment will be at a later date.
Furnas County Sheriff's Deputy Tim Hanson reported that Reiners was driving a grain truck loaded with corn on a rural gravel road at about 2:15 p.m., Saturday, when she failed to turn or stop at a T intersection and drove into a ditch. Local farmers found Reiners at about 2:19 p.m.
Rescue personnel used Jaws of Life to free Reiners from the truck, but she was pronounced dead at the scene.
Hanson said it is not apparent why Reiners failed to turn or stop at the intersection. He said speed, drugs or alcohol are not believed to be factors in the accident. Reiners was not wearing a seat belt, according to the accident report.
Sheriff Kurt Kapperman said late this morning that his officers continue to investigate the accident with the assistance of the Nebraska State Patrol.
Assisting on the scene were law enforcement and rescue personnel from the Gosper County Sheriff's Department and Holbrook, Cambridge and Arapahoe fire departments.
