STRATTON -- Bette Caroline Sis, 79, died peacefully at her home on Tuesday (Nov. 10, 2009), due to complications of pulmonary disease.

She was born March 17, 1930, to Scott and Laura "Dot" (Overholser) Kellogg at Cambridge, and moved with her family at the young age of two, to Stratton.

She attended school in Stratton and graduated from Stratton High School with the class of 1947. She went on to attend McCook Junior College for one year, and attended St. Anthony's School of Nursing in Denver in 1948-1949.

On Oct. 25, 1949, she married Robert L. Sis at Stratton. In the summer of 1950, Bette and Bob moved to the farm south of Stratton, and in 1966 they moved back to Stratton where they made their home and raised their family.

She served on the library board for many years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Scott and Laura "Dot" Kellogg; and her husband, Bob.

Survivors include her children, Jenifer Sis Bubla of Stratton, Gayle Sis of Stayton, Ore., Marc Sis and wife, Kim of McCook, Jill Sis of Catonsville, Md., Tim Sis and wife, Kathryn of Ketchikan, Alaska, Betsy Sis of Boulder, Colo., Sheila Sis of Catonsville, Md, and Patrick Sis and wife, Carla of Grand Junction, Colo.; eight granchildren; four step-grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.

A Memorial Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Saturday, 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Stratton with the Rev. Fr. Christopher Goodwin celebrant.Inurnment will follow services at Rose Hill Cemetery near Stratton.

The rosary is today at 7 p.m., at the church.

There will be no visitation or viewing.

Arrangements are under the direction of Forch Funeral Chapel of Stratton.
