Old District 8 on agenda

McCook Public Schools board of education members will discuss the fate of the District 8 school house facilities and the planning of special education classrooms at McCook Elementary during their meeting starting at 6 p.m., today, in the junior high conference room.

The District 8 buildings are located southwest of McCook and have not been used as school buildings since the 2007-2008 school year.

Superintendent Grant Norgaard told board members in September that it's possible that federal stimulus funds earmarked for special education projects could be used to add onto McCook Elementary. Today, board members will discuss a contract with W Design to plan two special ed rooms and updates to McCook Elementary's preschool room.

The agenda also includes a report on assessments and school improvement and the second reading of board policy concerning conduct and discipline of students/restraint and seclusion. In closed session, board members will discuss personnel and a liability issue related to personnel.
