WAUNETA -- Edith Marie Lorance, 93, died Saturday (Oct. 24, 2009), in Denver, Colo.

She was born Dec. 27, 1915, on the family farm near Wauneta, to Chester C. and Bessie (Ough) Stock. She graduated from Wauneta High School in 1933.

On March 25, 1937, she marrIed Bert Edward Lorance in Wauneta. They farmed in Nebraska. Bert played tenor sax and she played piano on the weekends with the Sonny Haven Band in the 40s and 50s.

In 1980, she retired from the Connecticut General Life Insurance Co. in Denver.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Bert.

Survivors include a daughter, Reta Ann Smith of Denver; a son, Richard and wife, Susan Lorance of Duncanville, Texas; a brother, William and wife, Ruby Stock of McCook; a sister, Lois Lane of Dix; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Services are Saturday, 2 p.m., at Advantage Aurora Chase Chapel in Aurora, Colo., and Monday, 11 a.m., at Liewer Funeral Home in Wauneta. Interment will follow the service at Riverside Cemetery in Wauneta.

Visitation is Monday at 10 a.m., at the funeral home in Wauneta.
