James H. 'Chopper' Wilkens

ATWOOD -- James H. "Chopper" Wilkens, 69, died Friday (Oct. 23, 2009), at his home in Atwood.
He was born Feb. 9, 1940, at Bird City, to Charles and Jessie (Herren) Wilkens.
He was a farmer and former owner of a feed grinding, earth moving business.
Survivors include his wife, Betty; four daughters, Charlotte Burroughs, Kathy Thompson, Carol Wilkens and Karla Heble and husband, Aaron; three brothers, Allan and Jackie Wilkens and wife Mae Wilkens; three sisters, Charlene Gunther, Betty and husband, Tom Tomlinson and Rita Wheeler; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Mass of Christian burial was today at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Atwood, with the Rev. Lawrence Ejiofor officiating. Burial was at Mount Calvary Cemetery in Atwood.
Parish rosary was Sunday at the church.
A memorial has been established to be designated at a later date.
