Ripon, Calif. -- Dave Schneider, 79, died Saturday (Oct. 11, 2009).
He was born Sept. 24, 1930, to Dean and Margaret (Blakeslee) Schneider at Brewster Hospital in Holdrege. He attended country school at Prairie Rose School District 11 through the eighth grade. He then attended Axtell High School and Kearney State College.
While serving a term in the U.S. Navy, he married Frances Mae Whitnor of Montrose, Colo., in the chapel on the Naval Base in San Diego, Calif., on Aug. 6, 1951. She preceded him in death.
He later married Barbara Phillips.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Robert Dean and Earl Edward.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara of Ripon, Calif.; his children, Nancy Elaine, Bonita Ann, David Richard, Jonathan Daniel and Alicia Ann; two brothers, James of Commerce, Calif., and Paul of McCook; two sisters, Leonora of Meade, Kan., and Carolyn of Lodi, Calif.; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Axtell on Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2009, at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Bruce Lester of the Evangelical Free Church, McCook officiating. A luncheon and time of fellowship will follow at the First Presbyterian Church in Axtell.
His body was cremated.
