GRAND ISLAND -- Mother Nature wreaked havoc on the 2009 Class B Girls State Golf Championships.

The two-day, 36-hole state tournament was shortened to 18 holes and one day after Nebraska School Activities Association (NSAA) officials decided to cancel Monday's opening round due to wintry weather conditions.

McCook had three competitors in the state meet held Tuesday at Jackrabbit Run Golf Course in Grand Island. Junior Shelby Allen brought home a tenth-place medal with her 18-hole total of 88 strokes. Senior Alex Trew shot a 95 to finish 21st. Freshman Kaylee Samway tied for 27th with a 98.
