BENKLEMAN -- Lenna J. (O'Neall) Scrivner, 91, died Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2009, at Dundy County Hospital.

She was born Nov. 8, 1917, in Dundy County Nebraska to James M. and Olivia E. O'Neall and attended the Benkelman schools, graduating from Benkelman High School. Following graduation from Chadron State College, she returned home and taught in the Dundy County rural school systems. She also worked for the welfare office located in the Dundy County Courthouse for a number of years.

She married Forrest J. Scrivner in the late 1960s and enjoyed a life of travel within the United States and abroad. After Forrest died in 1988, she was involved in several volunteer and community minded organizations. She was a member of the Benkelman Presbyterian Church and of PEO and Eastern Star for several years as well. In 2005, she became a resident of the Sarah Ann Hester Memorial Home in Benkelman.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and three sisters: Eleanor Cantin (Harry Cantin), Iva Keim (Leonard Keim), and Lila Dunn (Gaile Dunn).

Survivors include three step-daughters, Dorothy and husband, Richard Blum, Marilyn and husband, Harvey Holzwarth and Gwen and husband, DeVern Jacobson.

Funeral services will be Saturday, at 10 a.m. at Forch Funeral Chapel in Benkelman with Marcine Farmer, PMA, officiating. Interment will follow services at the Benkelman Cemetery.

No visitation or viewing is scheduled at this time.
