Margaret Evelyn Quick, age 94, died Saturday, Sept. 19, 2009, and Forrest "Frosty" William Quick, age 96, died Saturday, Sept. 26, 2009, both at Hillcrest Nursing Home.
Margaret was born Oct. 7, 1914, at Grant to Frank N. and Jennie (Hoffman) Whipps. She was the fifth of their six children. At an early age she was baptized and became a member of the Congregational Church of Grant later moving her membership to Trenton. She attended schools of Grant and graduated from Perkins County High School in 1933. After graduation she taught school several years in Perkins County.
Frosty was born at Odell in Gage County on Aug. 6, 1913, the son of John T. and Mary (With) Quick. He had five sisters. His family later moved to Grant where he attended school and grew to manhood. He was baptized and became a member of the Congregational Church of Grant later moving his membership to Trenton.
On Nov. 2, 1935, Forrest and Margaret were married in Akron, Colo. To this union two children were born, a daughter, Colleen Kay Schoolcraft of Lancaster, S.C., and a son, Gary Lee Quick of Lakewood, Colo. In November, they would have celebrated 74 years together.
They moved to Trenton in December in 1937, where they were in business until November 1997.
Margaret taught Sunday School for 18 years in Nebraska and Illinois. She was a Cub Scout Den Mother, a 4-H Leader and was active in her church and Women's Fellowship. She was a member of Eastern Star, a Past Worthy Matron and had received her 50 year pin.
Frosty was a past Scout Master, served time as a city board member, and school board member. He was a lifetime member of the Masonic Lodge, a Past Worshipful Master, Eastern Star, and a Past Worthy Patron. He had his own plane and loved to fly and play golf.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Jennie; brothers and sisters.
Frosty was preceded in death by his parents, John and Mary; wife; and his sisters.
They are survived by their daughter, Colleen Schoolcraft and husband Robert; son, Gary Quick and wife, Sharon; and grandchildren, Lisa, Jody, Eric, Chad, Kyle, Tisha, Doug, Brian, Brad and Chad.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in her name to the American Cancer Society and in his name to the Alzheimer's Association.
Inurnment will be in the Grant Cemetery on Friday, Oct. 23, 2009, at 2 p.m (MT). Memorial services will be Saturday, Oct. 24, 2009, 10 a.m. at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home with Pastor Fay Ann Blaylock officiating.
