IMPERIAL -- Sylvia Jane Polly, 63, died Sunday (Sept. 27, 2009) in Lakewood, Colo.
She was born Oct. 31, 1945, in Imperial to Helen and Ralph Sandman Jr. She attended Rural Service District 21 through the second grade and graduated in 1964 from Chase County High School. Upon graduation, she attended Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in Denver, Colo., receiving her cap after completion of her preliminary training.
On Dec. 17, 1966, she married James Polly. She worked as an office manager at High Plains Pediatrics in Scottsbluff for many years. In 1992, she moved to Phoenix, Ariz., where she worked with Newscount, a news monitoring agency.
She returned to Imperial in 1997, to care for her family. In 2000, she began working for First Bank and Trust in Imperial until July of 2009. She was appointed to the Board of Directors at Chase County Hospital on May 10, 2005, where she served until her death.
She was preceded in death by her father, Ralph in 1946 and her mother, Helen in 1999.
Survivors include her twin daughters, Christine Oetjen and husband, Tim of Gilbert, Ariz., and Janette Read and husband, Eddie of Highlands Ranch, Colo.; step-father, Jack Claney and friend, Duanne Dixon; sister, Tonda McGarr and husband, Max; three grandchildren; and one nephew.
A celebration of life will be at First United Methodist Church in Imperial on Saturday at 11 a.m. (MT).
