  • I know 911 was a Bad Event in history..but why is Mc Cook spending money on fountains that we really did not need although pretty ,not needed. and on a monument not needed ,how about fixing the roads more ,they are uneven not wide enough for two cars at close proximity it takes one person making a mistake and there will be several accidents, I know some people don't like change but We need our roads fixed, new places to eat cheaper living and gas gouging come on the gas comes from Nebraska why the cost ,Walmart needs to lower the cost of all their stuff food etc .walmart multi billion dollar company ,Ever since the creator of the Walmart store died his sons have been greedy ,they can afford to lower everything lots Walmart is suppost to be cheap not overpriced more than all other stores most people now will go out of Mc Cook for groceries and other stuff so business is not here.

  • Really good comment I agree with it

  • Although the comments in the above posts MAY hold some truth. . .is this the place to actually post them? This monument was created by a young man for his Eagle Scout project, no city funds nor state funds were used to erect this. The funds were raised in their entirety through donations from the community and businesses, that he worked to obtain. Let's not take away from the accomplishments of this young man.

  • This young man has done a wonderful job of honoring those who serve in war so that we might enjoy freedom. The statue is beautiful and very moving. As the mother of two 21 year old children in the military, THANK YOU Trenton for a fabulous project. I pray that I may never know the sorrow of a son or daughter KIA. Sometimes tributes to heroes - like this statue - can bring healing to those who lose loved ones in war, and I pray this one does as well.

  • Ok that is good that it was made by a eagle scout and donated. But The Other stuff in McCook needs to change.

  • If it Is not suggest to Post here and there is no other place to do so ...then create a place where the city of McCook residents can speak Because my points are heavily valid and I know there are people of this city that will agree ,So although off topic points are needed to be made..maybe the city will note the problems and change and invite more business here.I agree with the Monument and it was a Good idea,it helps the younger school age kids understand and helps the Veterans feel good and heal and they did what they did for a good cause .

  • Thevoice might be paid more attention to if he'd do a little research on the articles s/he comments on, rather than pulling out the soapbox for reasons unrelated to the article. Also if s/he didn't compliment their own comments. Bleck.

It's good to see that Trenton was successful in getting this monument put up. I hope that it might inspire other teens to make efforts to improve the community.

  • Regardless of where I posted this is not important I read all the stories.I posted the coment on accident you are referring to .Still My points about McCook are valid points that I know Several McCook residents will agree too as well McCook Needs to change. In the above ways I mentioned I notices roads in McCook are being fixed and it is looking good but the roads that are not being worked on are uneven ,not leveled nore wide enough

  • I agree with the reasoning of the monument and all articles. But I want some rational points of the community to get across and had no where else to post it ,so I will apologize if it is taken as a offensive in any way.

  • The monument is indeed beautiful and Trenton needs postive comments not uninformed comments. He did a great job, and should be commended not chastised.

Evidently thevoice has never driven down streets in Lincoln's older neighborhoods, cars parked on both sides of the street and only ONE car can go through at a time. Most of our streets are wide enough especially if there is no parking on one side of the street. One thought is, if drivers would SLOW down a little, the close calls might not be so close, a little give and less take would also help.

About the only comment by thevoice I can agree on, is the outragous gasoline prices in this town. Those outfits need to supply masks to the employees because it is "highway robbery". When gas is cheaper by 19 cents a gallon just 130 miles east of here, we are indeed getting the shaft. BUT these comments do not belong on this article.

Perhaps thevoice is answering the voices in his/her head???(ie Really good comment, I agree with it.)

  • I am done making Comments.I would Like the feelings on how people want McCook to change not other areas in Nebraska. what do you want there or for the city to try to get here? As for the monument I understand the reasoning behind it and the veterans and what they did and have done I have nothing against it or what they have done I thank them for what they did. the monument is a good edition to the Park

  • Maybe thevoice has never lived in a larger city with wide streets, which allow drivers to drive at speeds up to 45mph. Myself personally, I like the quaintness of McCooks residential streets which keep the speeds at a safe rate. My only complaint is the lack of stop signs at alot of the intersections.

  • thevoice,

I'm sure the community you seek is out there, go find it.

  • The people on here commenting on what the voice has said are completely closed minded. That's what this town is full of. No one wants change because they can't handle change. I have lived in bigger citites with wider roads and some only go up to 35mph but no one goes the speed limit they are always in a hurry even here. So get that right fish4star.

  • Perhaps the voice could get one of the bloggers to start one about his concerns, many of them valid. I am guilty too for making the statement about the outragous gas prices in this town, this article was not the place to make it. I believe most of the posters were upset with the voice for using this article to bring them up, not closed minded. The bloggers have new rules about staying on subject....should not the comments on these articles follow that also?

  • closed minded, i am not. but thank you for your comment.
