Bison roll past Hastings 28-0

HASTINGS -- The McCook Bison shut out the Hastings Tigers 28-0 at the Tom Osborne Field in Hastings Friday night.

"We didn't play well tonight but we played well enough to win," said coach Jeff Gross.

"We need to find a way to get better on offense."

Running back Andy Smith scored on a 5-yard run for the Bison's first score with 4:24 left in the first quarter. Smith was sidelined later in the game by a nagging ankle sprain.

Bison fullback Deon Allen scored three touchdowns, one in the second quarter and two in the third.

Shane Wallen was 4-for-4 kicking extra points.

Hastings held the Bison scoreless In the final period.

"We need to communicate better on the offensive line," said junior center Ben Vetrovsky.

"We know what our responsibilities are.

"Our defense played the best game of the year so far."
