KEARNEY -- Richard "Dick" D. Lynch, 77, formerly of McCook, died Tuesday (Sept. 15, 2009) at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.
He was born Jan. 29, 1932, in Kearney to Benjamin A. and Mary E. (Gage) Lynch. He was raised in Kearney and attended Kearney High School, graduating in 1950. He then attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and received his degree in Pharmacy in 1954.
He entered the service on Jan. 10, 1955, and served in the U.S. Air Force until he was discharged on Sept. 15, 1957. On June 25, 1955, he married Arlene Kuhlmann in Tucson, Ariz. She preceded him in death on Aug. 30, 1976.
He married Madelyn Trambly Fritson on May 24, 1984, in McCook. He was a pharmacist in McCook at Prest Drug and at Gibsen Pharmacy until he opened Dick's Alco Pharmacy in 1977, which he owned until his retirement.
He was a member of the Kearney and McCook Elks Lodges.
He was preceded in death by his parents and first wife, Arlene.
Survivors include his wife, Madelyn of Kearney; sons, David Lynch of Lincoln and Tom Lynch of McCook; daughters, Gerayne Hesseltine of McKinney, Texas and KayAlice Lynch of Little Elm, Texas; step-sons, Dale Fritson of Kearney and Don Fritson of Cozad; step-daughter, Leann Van Syckle of Waco, Texas; 15 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Friday, 11 a.m., at First United Methodist Church in Kearney with the Rev. Gary Main officiating. Burial will be at a later date.
