INDIANOLA -- Martin A. Kometscher, 87, Lincoln, formerly of Indianola died Monday, Sept. 14, 2009, at his daughter's home in Lincoln.
Martin was born on Jan. 11, 1922, in Lawrence to Henry and Catherine (Kuppenbender) Kometscher.
He farmed north of Indianola on the family farm. He moved to Lincoln in the late 1950s and started working construction as a foreman for Dobson Brothers Construction Company.
He was preceded in death by parents; two daughters; one son-in-law; five brothers and five sisters.
Survivors include his sons, Mike Kometscher and wife, Catherine and Mark Kometscher and wife, Shaun, all of Lincoln; daughter, Catherine Gregory also of Lincoln; 14 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Francis Borgerding of Freeport, Minn.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 17, 2009, at Roper and Sons Chapel, 4300 'O' Street, in Lincoln.
Visitation will be noon - 8 p.m. on Wednesday with family greeting friends from 7 - 8 p.m., at Roper's and Sons in Lincoln.
Local services will be Friday, Sept. 18, 2009, with a rosary at 10 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at St. Catherine's Catholic Church in Indianola with Father Thomas McGuire officiating. Burial will be in St. Catherine's Cemetery at Indianola.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the family.
