MRNRD to adopt budget

CURTIS -- Board members of the Middle Republican Natural Resources District will be asked to adopt the 2009-10 budget, at the regular MRNRD meeting Tuesday, Sept. 15, at the Community Center in Curtis.

A special hearing for the budget will be held 7 p.m., prior to the regular meeting.

The proposed MRNRD tax rate will be 0.057847, slightly lower than the 2008-09 rate of 0.058524. The MRNRD is expected to receive $1,133,474 from property taxes in 2009-2010, an increase from $1,031,739 in 2008-09.

At the regular meeting, items that will be presented include:

A report on the Nebraska Republican River Management Districts Association meeting Sept. 17 in Holdrege

Legislation issues, including: interim hearings concerning the Natural Resources Committee; the Republican River Compact and ongoing compliance issues.

consider a water lease from Riverside Irrigation Company

Board members will also consider two variance requests and related transfer requests.
