Soon you'll be able to get a margarita with that taco.

The McCook City Council unanimously approved the application of Rafael Ayala of El Puerto at 309-311 Norris Avenue for a Class I liquor license, to serve beer, wine and distilled spirits on site-only.

At the public hearing, no one spoke for or against the application.

The council will now forward its approval to the Nebraska Liquor Control Commission.

On the regular agenda, the council also approved two council members to serve on a committee to review insurance broker services for the city.

Council members Colleen Grant and Lonnie Anderson both volunteered for the committee, that will include City Manager Kurt Fritsch, City Clerk Lea Ann Doak and Public Works Director Kyle Potthoff.

After discussing the proposals, the committee will forward its recommendation to the council.

The city has received proposals from four insurance agencies: current provider MNB Insurance, AmFirst Insurance, Wells Fargo and Hayes, out of Denver, Colo.

At the Aug. 21 regular council meeting, the council approved to request proposals for insurance services, with Council members Aaron Kircher and Colleen Grant voting against it.
