Starting in today's edition, the McCook Daily Gazette will showcase male and female high school athletes from McCook and the surrounding area in a new weekly feature called "Area Athletes in Focus."

Scheduled to run every Thursday, the feature is an effort by the Gazette to spotlight the talented young men and women participating in high school sports, particularly highlighting those who are not only putting up stellar statistics in the field or on the court, but also are top-notch teammates, achievers in the classroom and active in their communities.

The first two athletes selected by the Gazette sports staff are Oberlin's Jordan Dreher and Dustin Park of Arapahoe.
