CAMBRIDGE -- Leatha M. Colson, 91, died Monday (Sept. 7, 2009) at Cambridge Manor.

She was born in Wauneta on May 7, 1918, to Chester C. and Bessie (Ough) Stock. She went to country school and later graduated from Wauneta High School in 1936. She took normal training and taught school on the south divide at Wauneta.

On April 16, 1938, she married Omar Colson. He preceded her in death on Nov. 2, 1978. She ran the Cambridge Motel from 1972 to 1988. During this time she also worked at Coley's Tavern in 1975. In 2007, when her health failed she, moved to the Cambridge Manor.

She was a former member of the Eastern Star and a member of the Afton Ladies and Trinity United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Omar; three brothers, Harlan, Byron and Howard; two sisters, Ona Sandman and Ellen Browning; one grandson, Gene Colson; and a great-grandson, Jonathon Moyer.

Survivors include her daughter, Connie and husband, Dean Reeser of Pepin, Wis.; four sons, Marvin and wife, Charlene Colson of Bartley, Eldon and wife, Phyllis Colson of Lyons, Kan., Kenneth and wife, Sheila Colson and Gerald and wife, Louise Colson, all of Cambridge; two sisters, Edith Lawrence of Denver, Colo., and Lois Lane of Dix; one brother, Bill and wife, Ruby Stock of McCook; 15 grandchildren; and 32 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Thursday at 2 p.m., at Trinity United Methodist Church in Cambridge with the Rev. Sherry Sklenar officiating. Interment will be in the Fairview Cemetery in Cambridge.

There will be no public viewing. Friends may stop and sign the book at the mortuary on Wednesday after 2 p.m.

Memorials may be left at the Lockenour-Jones Mortuary in her name to the Cambridge Manor.
