In March 2009, Trooper Waddle, a 25-year veteran of the Patrol suffered a stroke following surgery to remove a tumor from his pituitary gland. The stroke, left him sedated and unconscious for several weeks, and affected his ability to walk and talk. He is currently undergoing extensive rehabilitation at Madonna Rehabilitation Hospital in Lincoln, Nebraska. While he is making great strides in his recovery, he currently relies on a wheelchair for mobility.
A Pancake & Sausage Benefit will be held from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 13, 2009, at the Divots DeVent Center, 4200 West Norfolk Avenue, in Norfolk. In addition to the breakfast, a silent auction, raffle and bake sale will also take place. Money raised during the benefit will go toward efforts to make the Waddle home handicapped accessible as well as continued medical and rehabilitation expenses for Trooper Waddle.
Trooper Waddle's duty station is Troop B-Norfolk. He and his wife, Kimberly live near the community of Stanton.
The event is sponsored by the Glen Waddle Benefit Committee. Individuals unable to attend the benefit, but interested in making a donation may do so, at the Elkhorn Valley Bank, P.O.
