NORTH PLATTE -- Mariann Ogorzolka, 82, died Friday (Aug. 28, 2009) at Great Plains Regional Medical Center in North Platte.
She was born Sept. 3, 1926, at Palisade to Roy and Olive (Ritchie) Marquissee. She attended and graduated from Stratton High School. After graduation she went to business college and later graduated from the McCook Beauty School.
She married Rex V. Gerdes and he preceded her in death in 1969. The family lived in Stratton, where she operated the Stratton Beauty Shop for more than 20 years. On April 14, 1973, she married Don Ogorzolka and he preceded her in death on June 5, 2009. They lived in Bartley, Indianola and McCook. They moved to Hillcrest Nursing Home when their health failed.
She was employed at DeGroff's Department store and Redman's Shoe Company. She also worked at Ivanhoe's Bakery and Hinky Dinky.
She was a member of the Eastern Star Chapter of Bartley. The couple traveled with the Good Sam's Camping group and she mentored at the Republican Valley school as a Good Friend mentor.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands, Rex and Don; one sister, Clara; and a brother, Oscar.
Survivors include her two sons, Rod and wife, Deb Gerdes of Horton, Kan., and Ron and wife, Linda Gerdes of Spring, Texas; one step-daughter, Nancy and husband, Les Schmidt of Indianola; four step-sons, Daniel Ogorzolka of Bartley, Eldon and wife, Carol Ogorzolka of Lincoln, Lloyd and wife, Mary Ogorzolka of Indianola and Todd and wife, Denise Ogorzolka of Henderson; 16 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were today at Lockenour-Jones Mortuary, in Cambridge with the Rev. Brian Perry officiating. Interment was in the Benkelman Cemetery.
Memorials may be left in her name to the Stratton Ambulance Fund.
