Imperial youth dies in rollover

IMPERIAL -- The death Sunday, Aug. 23, of another young person from the Imperial area is the third since the middle of July.

Adrian Marquez of Imperial died in a one-vehicle accident 1 1/2 miles north of Imperial just 6 days after his 16th birthday. His passenger, 13-year-old Rachel Carmin of Imperial, suffered an ankle injury, cuts and bruises.

Nebraska State Patrol Trooper Jeff Van Stelton said that Marquez was driving on a county road when he lost control and his Trailblazer rolled three times. Both occupants were thrown from the SUV; neither was wearing a seat belt.

The Imperial and Enders communities have been shocked by accidents this summer, the first on July 13 when Debra Ridlen Palser of Elsie, originally of Enders, died in a car accident near Elsie. A one-vehicle rollover accident west of Enders Aug. 3 killed 21-year-old Elisha "Bubba" Sanchez.
