WAUNETA -- Gladys Nordhausen Schneider, 85, died Tuesday (Aug. 4, 2009) at Chase County Community Hospital in Imperial.
She was born Dec. 7, 1923, to Fred and Dora Nordhausen at their home in the South Divide area near Wauneta. She grew up on the family farm and helped her parents with the farm.
On July 13, 1946, she married Dewaine Schneider at St. Francis. They lived in several different locations before settling in Wauneta, where they lived for the last 30 years.
She was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church and LWML in Wauneta.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, Alvin, Otto, Edgar, Floyd and Gilbert Nordhausen.
Survivors include her husband, Dewaine of Wauneta; sons, John Schneider and wife, Jane of Houston, Texas, Thom Schneider and wife, Marie of Dickinson, Texas and Steve Schneider and wife, Rosa of Spokane, Wash.; daughter, Dorrie Jones and husband, Gregg of Cheyenne, Wyo.; sisters, Viola Krausnick of Wauneta and Elfrieda Johnston of Wauneta; nine grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Thursday, 10:30 a.m. (MT) at Redeemer Lutheran Church with the Rev. Greg Stuckwisch officiating. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery at Wauneta.
Visitation will be today until 6 p.m. (MT) at Liewer Funeral Home in Wauneta.
A memorial has been established to the Lutheran World Relief and the Dakota Boys Ranch.
