Florian Bennit and his parents, Horst and Marion, made a surprise visit to Florian's former exchange parents, Don and Alice Harpst, of McCook, who are celebrating their 50th anniversary this weekend. Florian, then a German foreign exchange student, graduated from Cambridge High School in 1987, and moved to McCook when the Harpsts did. He now owns Melcosa Vietnam, which exports furniture through outlets like Pier 1 and Crate & Barrel, as well as apparel and shoes. Before retiring a few months ago, his father sold rights to German soccer broadcasts to Asian countries, and Florian's mother had a pottery studio.
