Of course that can mean only one thing, "Cinderella" will soon be performed on the historic stage, in downtown McCook.
The Southwest Nebraska Community Theater proudly presents the Missoula Children's Theater's original adaptation of the age-old folk tale to audiences on Saturday. Show times will be 3 and 7 p.m., with ticket prices of $4 for all seats.
The show features 53 student actors from across the area representing the communities of McCook, Cambridge, Danbury, Indianola, Benkelman, Hayes Center Stratton, and Culbertson who auditioned for their parts Monday. After only five days of rehearsal, the cast is eager to bring the show to the stage.
In MCT's musical presentation, Cinderella's stepsisters, played by Elizabeth Weidner and Heather Roe Faimon, try to keep Cinderella (Laura McCarty) from attending the ball.
The Fairy Godmother, played by Chris Messinger, enlists the help of the Mice and the Pumpkins and with their help she is able to transform Cinderella just in time for the big event, were she is captivated by the Prince (Trenton Klimper) much to the dismay of Cinderella's stepmother being played by Sarah Jones.
Cinderella's helpers, the mice are played by: Jade Claflin, Melinda Gillispe, Tawna Gillispie, Annalyn Holak, Allison Johnson, Kassidy Michealis, Becca Tietz, and Cleo Walker.
The mystical magic Pumpkins will be played by: Jakob Anderjaska, Kerrigan Burns, Alyse Foster, Emily Gosch, Cale Johnson, Grace Rowe, Sydney Rowe, Jada Shalak, Lexi Sines and Elsa Wilcox.
Also featured in the production are the King (Talon Clay), Cleo the Cat (Hope Rowe), Fido the Dog (Marshall Sides), the Town Criers (Lindi Johnson and Allison Priddy) and the Beggars portrayed by: Joey Anderjaska, Madison Crowe, Madisyn Garcia, Caitlin Hiatt, Kerrigan Klien, Jessica Premer, Becca Sehnert, Karlie Sines, and Faith Swanson.
The Lords and Ladies of the magical kingdom include: Ally Dicenta, Rachel Gordine, Megan Helberg, Chase Hurdle, Emily Karr, Mikayla Klimper, Dillan Kolbo, Kaylea Kolbo, Jessica Morrissey, Veronica Schnell, Bria Simmonds, Olivia Sis, Madison Snyder, Zane Wilcox and Ethan Wilcox.
Musical accompaniment will be provided by the talented Phillip Clay.
