HOLBROOK -- A Holbrook-based nonprofit organization that promotes Nebraska-based artisans and producers is a finalist in an eBay "Sellers Challenge" whose grand prize is $25,000.

GROW Nebraska, based on main street Holbrook, would use its prize money, said founder and CEO Janell Anderson-Ehrke, to explain to members how eBay can be an effective tool to sell their products and to enhance one-on-one opportunities as they provide members technical assistance with selling on eBay.

Anderson-Ehrke told challenge coordinators that GROW Nebraska seeks to maximize Nebraska's entrepreneurial and small business spirit. She wrote contest sponsors: "We started selling on eBay nearly a year ago, and provide our members with a lot of information on how to sell on eBay and be effective." Anderson-Ehrke said that eBay provides GROW Nebraska members with a way to reach outside of Nebraska with their Nebraska-grown products.

eBay's "Sellers Challenge" asked contestants to submit a video business plan responding to the question: "If you had $25,000, how would you spend it to start or grow your business on eBay?"

eBay and the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation have selected finalists and will contribute tips for success, advice for starting and growing a business. Finalists were selected based on the clarity of business plan, perceived business challenges and obstacles, passion for eBay and appropriateness to the contest theme as demonstrated by the video business plan.

Final voting is extended to the eBay community through Thursday, Aug. 6.
