GLAZIER, Texas -- Services for Anneta Rutherford, 72, of Glazier, Texas, were Saturday, July 18, 2009, at the First United Methodist Church in Canadian, Texas with the Rev. Lewis Holland officiating and Bruce Johnson and the Rev. Danny Sanders assisting. Burial followed in Edith Ford Memorial Cemetery in Canadian under the direction of Hughs Funeral Home of Canadian, Texas.
Mrs. Rutherford passed away Thursday, July 16, 2009, in Canadian.
Anneta was born Jan. 20, 1937, in Shamrock, Texas to the late Mr. Jess Bessire and Mrs. Juanita (King) Bessire. She attended grammar school in Allison, Texas and was a 1956 graduate of Canadian High School.
She married J.R. Rutherford on Aug. 24, 1957, at the Church of Christ in Canadian. They lived in the Hayes Center area for a time. She was a homemaker and a member of the First United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by three brothers.
She is survived by her husband, J.R. Rutherford of Glazier; one son, Rex Rutherford of Canadian; three daughters, Connie Jenkins of Noble, Okla.; Sandy Long and husband, John of Glazier and Ginger Cullers of Glazier; two grandchildren, Jacy and Jake Cullers both of Glazier; one step granddaughter, Shawnda Molinar and husband, Johnny of Borger, Texas; numerous step great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and a dear friend for many years, Wanda Rankin and husband, James of Canadian.
