The Southwest Nebraska Community Theatre Association is once again proud to announce the return to our local stage the world renowned Missoula Children's` Theatre as they present their original and unique adaptation of the well-known classic folk story "Cinderella" in an enchanting musical.

This is the 12th time that Missoula Children's Theater has presented a residency and show to the McCook community. The upcoming show will be held in the historic Fox Theater.

"We are genuinely excited to give area youth the opportunity to perform at the Fox. It is such a great place to perform. This should be a wonderful experience for everyone, and it would not be possible without the cooperation of The McCook Arts Council," stated Kathy Latta, SWNCTA president.

Following in the tradition of past MCT shows in McCook, (such as: "Robinson Crusoe," "The Little Mermaid," "Snow White" and "Robin Hood") the six-day long residency will begin with open auditions Monday morning, July 20. from 9 to 11 a.mm on stage at the Fox Theater.

Approximately 50-60 available roles will be cast to interested local student actors for the MCT original production and no previous acting or musical performance experience is necessary.

Monday's open auditions are for all interested students entering 1st through 12th grade. No advance preparation is required and no prior musical and/or stage experience is necessary to audition. Those auditioning should arrive by 8:45 a.m. and plan on being present for the entire two hour audition process.

Most students will rehearse approximately 4 hours each day, Monday through Friday, as the MCT Tour Actor/Directors will conduct rehearsals from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. each day. After a week of excitement and hard work, the local cast will present their musical production on Saturday, July 25th at 3 and 7 p.m on stage at the Fox Theater.

"We encourage all interested area youth to attend. This show promises to be fun for all," project coordinator Trevor Premer said.

Unlike most traveling children's theater, that is traditionally theater FOR kids, the Missoula Children's Theatre touring productions present theater WITH our area young people. A professional MCT tour director team is set to arrive in McCook, complete with costumes, scenery, props and makeup, all they need are local student actors to complete their musical presentation after just six intense and fun filled days.

In this year's production, Cinderella's stepsisters try to keep Cinderella from attending the ball but the Fairy Godmother enlists the help of the Mice and the Pumpkins to transform Cinderella just in time for the big event. Also featured in the production are Cleo the Cat, Fido the Dog, the Lords and Ladies, the Town Criers, the King and the Beggars. Experience the unique twist the Missoula Children's Theatre puts on this classic story.
