INDIANOLA -- Oren Jay 'OJ' Greenlee passed away Wednesday, July 8, 2009, at Cambridge Manor in Cambridge at the age of 70.
He was born Dec. 20, 1938, in Frontier County, the son of the late Marion Grant and Marjorie Gladys (Hall) Greenlee. He graduated from Red Willow High School in 1956.
On July 9, 1961, OJ married Judith "Judy" Kay McMullen in Oberlin. He worked at Ernst Dairy in McCook, Boeing in Wichita, Kan., and Everett, Wash. In 1969, he and his family moved back to the McCook area where he worked various agriculture and construction jobs and the Electric Hose and Rubber Company. He retired from roofing in 2001.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Marion and Marjorie; four brothers, Gerald, Marvin, Dennis and Gary; and one sister, Janet Porter.
Surviving OJ is his wife, Judy of Indianola; one son, Rick and wife, Tammie, their children, Erin, Derek and Logan of Bartley; two daughters, Brenda and husband, Robert "Bob" O'Dea, their children, Mikayla and husband, Brian Wiechman, Mitchell and Jared O'Dea, all of Scott City, Kan., and Amanda Greenlee of Indianola; two sisters, Marilyn and husband, Ed Under and Janice and husband, Steve Kelsey, all of McCook; sister-in-law, Phyllis Greenlee of Bartley and JoAnn Brand of McCook; one brother-in-law, Howard Porter of Des Moines, Iowa; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
Memorial services will be Saturday, July 11, 2009, at 10 a.m., at Indianola Christian Church with Mike Searcey officiating. Inurnment will be in the Indianola Cemetery.
