LEOVILLE, Kan. -- Florence Zodrow, 86, died Monday (June 22, 2009) at Hays Medical Center in Hays, Kan.
She was born July 1, 1922, to Bernard "Ben" and Barbara (Geisinger) Kruse in rural Sheridan County, Kan. She grew up on a farm in Sheridan County and attended Leoville High School. She then attended Marymount College.
On Sept. 17, 1945, she married Seraphine Zodrow in Leoville. They lived in Leoville, where she was a bookkeeper for Zodrow Gas Company.
She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and Altar Society.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Bernard and Barbara Kruse; husband, Seraphine; son, Michael; daughter, Jeanette Voss; brother, Joe Kruse; and sisters, Mary Ann Zodrow, Loretta Woodall, Rita Kruse.
Survivors include her four sons, Raymond Zodrow of Leoville, Leo and wife, Carrie Zodrow of Oberlin, Jim Zodrow of Leoville and David Zodrow of Leoville; daughters, Betty and husband, Gary Newman of Hoxie, Kan., Mary and husband, Larry Schlick of Colby, Kan., Elaine and husband, Gayle Haag of Bartley, Virginia and husband, Birney Feldt of Hoxie and Lucille and husband, Ed Heim of Hoxie; sister, Germaine and husband, Ray Weis of Dresden, Kan.; 30 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Friday, 9:30 a.m., at Immaculate Conception Church in Leoville with the Rev. Henry Saw Lone officiating. Interment will be in the Mount Calvary Cemetery at Leoville.
Visitation will be Thursday from 2-5 p.m., at the Zodrow home in Leoville and from 6-8 p.m., at the church.
Memorials may be given in her name.
