OBERLIN -- Lloyd Beneda, 102, died Tuesday (June 17, 2009) at Cedar Living Center in Oberlin.
He was born April 12, 1907, in Norcatur, Kan., to James and Mary (Ruzicka) Beneda Sr. He grew up on a farm north of Oberlin and attended Lone Star Country School.
On Feb. 7, 1934, he married Susie Goltl in Oberlin. They lived on a farm north of Oberlin until the 1940s, when they moved to a farm in Bassettville Township Southwest of Oberlin. He was a farmer and rancher.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Mary Beneda Sr.; wife, Susie on May 17, 1982; siblings, James Jr., John, Everett, Frank, Kathryn Pavlicek and Pauline Krizek.
Survivors include his sons, Orlin and Elvin Beneda of Oberlin; daughter, Glenva and husband, Tom Burrell of Max; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Friday, 2 p.m., at Pauls Funeral Home in Oberlin with the Rev. Doug Hasty officiating. Interment will be in the Oberlin Cemetery.
Visitation will be today until 8 p.m., and Friday from 8 a.m., until time of services.
