COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- Kathy passed away gracefully at the age of 56 after a five year struggle with Alzheimer's disease.
She was born Sept. 11, 1952, in McCook to Harold and Mary Lou Groves (deceased). Kathy grew up in Colorado Springs, Colo., from the age of two and graduated from Palmer High School in 1970. She was employed at Colorado Springs Equipment Company where she met her loving husband of almost 38 years, Don Becker. They were married Aug. 21, 1971, at First United Methodist Church.
Kathy is survived by her husband, Don; brother, David Groves (Julia); sister, Laurie Groves; daughter, Amy Scheppach (Drew); daughter, Sara Doolittle (Colby); daughter, Jennifer Becker; and son, Jeffrey Becker; and grandchildren Jessica, Blake, Madison and McKenzie. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, family members and friends.
Kathy's greatest joy and accomplishment in life are her four successful children and four beautiful grandchildren. She was the most amazing, caring and giving wife, mother and homemaker that any family could ask for.
Kathy had fond memories of the activities with her family including time spent with the Bible Study group, vacations, sporting events, camping, hiking, taking walks in her neighborhood and listening to music. Christmas was one of her favorite times of year making Christmas ornaments, gifts and baking holiday treats for friends and family.
Kathy had a special gift for care giving as a home health care professional and in the end was a recipient of the amazing care from the staff at Namaste Alzheimer's Center. Her family could not feel more blessed and grateful for the care from the wonderful staff at Namaste.
Services will be June 24, 2009, at 2 p.m., at Wilson United Methodist Church, 6460 Flying W Ranch Rd., Colorado Springs, CO 80919.
