The McCook City Council unanimously approved Monday night at its regular meeting the consent agenda item to offer a contract to Interstate Irrigation, from Yuma Colo. who came in with the lowest responsible bid of $255,125.
Five bids were received for the project, including $264,842 from Van Kirk Sand and Gravel Inc. of Sutton; $276,985 from Midlands Contracting of Kearney; $325,823 from BSB Construction of Curtis; and $328,734 from Myers Construction of Broken Bow.
City water and sewer lines will be extended 3,000 linear feet each to the west property line of the proposed facility.
The water and sewer project is estimated to be completed by September with construction starting on the $8.5 million complex about October 1.
Other consent agenda items approved unanimously by the council include:
preliminary requests for the Bison Alumni All-School 2010 Reunion on July 2-5, 2010 . The council also authorized city staff to meet with the reunion committee to finalize requests, that will be brought back to the council for approval. Requests include the use of Norris Park for booths and entertainment; a classic car show and street dance on Norris Avenue; free swimming at the city pool and tentative plans for a softball games at the softball complex.
receive and file a report from McCook City Fire Chief Marc Harpham on the city's donation of 20 self-contained breathing apparatus to other fire departments and agencies in the area. The McCook City Fire Department was awarded a federal grant to obtain new SCBA equipment and will donate the current ones
the contract with the West Central Nebraska Area Agency on Aging for the purpose of specifying the separate and mutual responsibilities of the agency and the McCook Heritage Senior Center. The contract allows the senior center to receive funding for 2009-10 for certain services and activities
approve a special liquor license submitted by the McCook Eagles Club at 805 East B, for a fundraiser/ dance/beer garden on Aug. 8 from 6 -10 p.m., with an alternative date of Aug. 29.
