Democratic candidate to speak

GRAND ISLAND -- A meeting of Nebraska Democrats of the 3rd District will be taking place Saturday at the Republican River Valley Event Center, 906 East 7th Street, in McCook. The meeting will take place on the lower level, and all participants should enter through the East entrance.

Democrats, and any other people interested, are invited to come for coffee and danishes from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Democratic 3rd District Congressional Candidate, Rebekah Davis, will be there to meet and talk with those attending.

The main 3rd District Democrats meeting will begin at 11 a.m., with a tribute to our World War II Veterans in honor of D-Day.

Lunch will be served during the meeting, and the cost is $10 per person.

Alliance native Rebekah Davis is a graduate of Alliance High School, she is a former student of U.S. Rep. Tim Walz and his wife, Gwen Walz. In college, Davis was selected as an American intern in the Canadian Parliament for Quebec Senator Celine Hervieux-Payette. As a student, Rebekah was a delegate to Chichipate, Guatemala with the organization Sister Parish.

Rebekah graduated from Indiana University, Bloomington with a bachelor of arts in French. Davis continued with a CEP --certificate in political studies -- from the Institute of Political Studies in Aix-en-Provence, France.

She completed the American University of Cairo course in migration and refugee studies.

Rebekah went onto further research and studies in sixty countries before receiving a Master of Divinity from Yale Divinity School. Davis has worked as an educator, embassy liaison, and chaplain. Rebekah is currently employed with Alegent Healthcare. She speaks Bambara, Burmese, Farsi, French, Japanese, and Portuguese.

Rebekah is the daughter of Joyce Davis and Lynn Davis, the sister of Rick, Lisa, and Lydia, and the aunt of Matt, Amelia, Jeremy, and Elyjah. She has three dogs, Miles, Buckshot, and Ava.
