BILLINGS, Mont. -- Jay L. Strang, 57, of Forsyth, Mont., died Thursday (May 7, 2009) at Horizon Hospice in Billings after a battle with cancer.

He was born April 12, 1952, to David and Ann (Carroll) Strang in Dickinson, N.D. He graduated from Forsyth High School in 1971 and joined the U.S. Navy during the Viet Nam Conflict.

He attended a trade school in Sidney, where he became an electrician. He returned to Forsyth and began working for Western Energy in Colstrip for 27 years. Due to his illness he was forced to retire.

He married Marsha Dinius on Nov. 16, 1972 in Forsyth.

He was preceded in death by his father, David; sister-in-law, Sandy Fitterer; and father-in-law, Jerry Dinius.

Survivors include his wife, Marsha of Forsyth; children, Jeremy and wife, Emma Strang of Pasco, Wash., D.J. and wife, Jessica Strang of Billings, Jennifer and husband, Christopher Mills of Olathe, Kan., and Sandra and husband, Quentin Kilwien of Billings; mother, Ann Hart of Bartley; brother, David Strang of Scottsbluff; sister, Kathy Strang of San Antonio, Texas; mother-in-law, Evelyn Dinius of Forsyth; sisters-in-law, Wanda and husband, Dennis Russell of Missoula, Mont., Debbie and husband, Leon Riley of Billings and Brenda and husband, Craig Stellmach of Babbit, Minn.; and two granddaughters.

Funeral services were May 11, 2009, at Stevenson Sons Funeral Home in Forsyth with Ashley DiFronzo officiating. Interment was in the Forsyth Cemetery with military honors.
