LINCOLN -- Maudie Smith Isley, 87, died Sunday (May 24, 2009)
He was born Feb. 11, 1922, to Seldon and Mary Smith of rural Champion. She joined siblings Jack, Hazel and Stanley. Several years later, Francis was a new adopted sister.
Maudie went to country school, often riding on horseback. She went to Champion High School and then to Imperial. She graduated from Chase County High School with the Class of 1940. That same summer, she married Willard Yost.
In years to come , their children were Stanley, Bonnie Jo (deceased) and Sylvia. Maudie's favorite years were those spending time with her eight grandchildren. She especially enjoyed board games and picnics. She lived in various places, but moved to Lincoln in 2005 to be closer to her family. She spent the past year living at Tabitha Health Care where she was given wonderful care and love until her final day May 24.
She is survived by her children Stan and wife, Pat Yost and Sylvia Buffington, eight grandchildren and spouses and 19 great-grandchildren.
A family memorial service will be at Tabitha Chapel in Lincoln.
