BARTLEY -- Dwight Marion Ginther, 80, died Feb. 25, 2009, at Veterans Hospital in Portland, Ore.

He was born Jan. 2, 1929, to John and Velma Ullom Ginther on their family farm six miles north of Bartley. He lived all his life in Red Willow County with the exception of his service in the Army (Korea) and the last 10 months of his life in Portland.

He graduated from Bartley High School in 1948 and married Ruth Johnston in Cambridge on July 29, 1951.

He played drums in a country-western band called the Midnight Marauders' for many years around the McCook area. He also flew his planes, logging more than 4,500 hours behind the controls.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Beverly Hester and two grandsons.

Survivors include his four children and their families, Robert and Mary Ginther Hardy, Vivian and Marlin Coles Marquette, Geralyn and Duke Dailey Oregon City, Ore., and Muriel Wagner Idaho Falls, Idaho; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be Monday 1 p.m., at Bartley Christian Church in Bartley with Mike Searcey officiating. Inurnment will be in the Bartley Cemetery with military honors.
