MESA, Ariz. -- Lois (Hansen) McBee passed away Dec. 8, 2008, in Mesa, Ariz., surrounded by immediate family.
Lois was born in Correctionville, Iowa on Jan. 22, 1942. She married Ward McBee on March 20, 1959 and enjoyed raising her four daughters and being a farmer's wife in Culbertson. Ward and Lois moved to Apache Junction, Ariz., in 1994 to enjoy the warm weather and to be closer to grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband of almost 50 years; daughters, Julie Bennett and husband, Todd of Grand Island, Barbara Carbone of Phoenix, Ariz., Sharon Holst and husband, Chad of Stockbridge, Ga., and Kaylene York and husband, Brian of Hereford, Ariz.
She was very proud of her five grandchildren, Makenzie and Makayla Bennett, Justine and Jordan Skyler and Jacob Holst. She is also survived by three brothers, Delmer and Doug of Nebraska and Darrell of Oklahoma.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Pearl Hansen and infant son, Daniel Lee.
Lois was a huge Phoenix Suns fan, a proud Husker fan, an avid reader and salt and pepper shaker collector. She kept busy with many craft projects and always had a word puzzle book close at hand.
Memorial services will be at 11 a.m., Friday, May 15, 2009, at Herrmann Funeral Home in McCook with the Rev. Dr. Jeffery Thurman officiating. Inurnment will be in the Culbertson Cemetery.
The family will be greeting friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 5 - 8 p.m.
