HASTINGS -- Mark Steven Larreau, 48, of 742 Williams of Hastings, died Monday (April 27, 2009) at St. Elizabeth Regional Medical Center in Lincoln.
He was born Dec. 9, 1960, in Fort Dodge, Iowa to Gerald and LaDonna Larreau. After graduating from Wauneta High School and a variety of jobs, he decided to follow his dad in the masonry line of work.
On April 8, 1989, he married Christina (Zedicher) Larreau in Osceola. In 1990, they moved to Hastings, where he continued to do masonry work and he helped build the old Kearney Wal-Mart store. He then joined the Hastings Wal-Mart family on Nov. 5, 1992. After working several positions he returned to his previous position as a department manager in the sporting goods department.
He was preceded in death by his father, Gerald, sister, Carol and his daughter, Shanna.
Survivors include wife, Chris Larreau of Hastings; mother, LaDonna Larreau of Wauneta; grandmother, Eola Stanton of McCook; sister, Roseann and husband, Randy Schuman of Kansas; half sister, Bobbi and husband, Donny Pittman of Missouri; brothers, Joseph Larreau and Brian Larreau; brothers-in-law, Bob Brown of Valentine and Nick and wife, Rita Zedicher of Columbus; sisters-in-law, Kathy and husband, David Otteman of Scribner and Marcia and husband, Max III Shelton of Ainsworth; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
A celebration of life will be Saturday, 10 a.m., at First St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Hastings with the Rev. Joel Remmers officiating. Burial will be at a later date.
