Benkelman woman wins $10,000 online

BENKELMAN -- A Benkelman woman has won a $10,000 prize in an online contest sponsored by Overstock.com

The Benkelman News reports that Bonnie Willis won the retailer's monthly "Family Bailout Sweepstakes," a contest that pays $10,000 directly to the creditors of one winner each month through November. The grand prize in December is $50,000.

Willis told the News that her prize would go toward medical bills and bank notes.

Willis said she regularly enters online contests that give away cash and prizes. She has previously won a hand-held Pepsi game and a package of "2,000 Flushes" toilet bowl cleaner.

Roger Johnson, Overstock.com's public relations director, said that more than 300,000 people have entered the contest. Each month, contest sponsors randomly select five finalists, who are then interviewed. "We are happy to be able to help out, and she (Willis) is very deserving," Johnson said.
