Samuel McNeal Roberts, age 72, died Sunday, April 26, 2009, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.
He was born Sept. 17, 1936, in Joplin, Mo., to D. G. (Bob) and Mary Juanita (Higgins) Roberts. The family moved from Missouri to Arizona in 1947. He graduated from West Phoenix High School in 1955 and then continued his education at A.S.U. Before retirement he was owner/operator of a construction business in Arizona. He served in the Army from 1959 to 1961 and was stationed in Germany.
He moved to McCook in 2001. He worked at Three Star Dairy on a part time basis. He enjoyed model trains, yard work and gardening.
He was a member of Prairie View Baptist Church in McCook.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his children, Kelly Wiley and husband, Stacy of Denver, Colo., Linda Roberts, Debbie Nagel and husband, Rick, all of Tempe, Ariz., Tammy Townsend, Danny Bursh and husband, Eric, all of Chandler, Ariz.; brothers, Gregg Roberts and wife, Donna, Jerry Roberts and wife, Deah, all of McCook; and eight grandchildren.
Memorials may be given in his name.
A memorial gathering will be at the home of Gregg and Donna Roberts, 1007 West 2nd St., McCook, on Friday, May 1, from 3 to 7: pm. Friends and family are all invited to attend.
