BEAVER CITY -- Charlotte Ann Ganser, 81 of Beaver City, died Thursday (April 23, 2009) at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Lincoln.
She was born May 6, 1927, in Madison to Edward L. and Mary Ann (Rowlette) Reeves. She grew up in Madison and attended Madison High School.
On Feb. 6, 1948, she married Donald Ganser. They made their home in Madison where she worked as an operator for the General Telephone Company. In 1956, they moved to Albion where she continued her career as a telephone operator. She and her husband also owned and operated West End Grocery, a small "mom and pop" grocery where she was very much at home behind the counter.
Her husband died in 1983. She remained in Albion until 1986, when she moved Beaver City. She lived in Escher Apartments until 2008 when she moved into Beaver City Manor Assisted Living. She was a member of the Hollinger United Methodist Church Hollinger, a long-time member of the Madison Fire and Legion Auxiliaries and the Madison Degree of Honor Society.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Don Ganser; brother, Allen Reeves; sister, Jane Boettcher; and great-granddaughter, Kelsey Leann Vacha.
Survivors include her daughter, Barb and husband, Don Vacha of Beaver City; son, Timothy Ganser of Los Angeles, Calif.; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were today at Hollinger United Methodist Church in Hollinger with the Rev. Keith Theobald officiating. Burial will be Tuesday at 3 p.m., in Crown Hill Cemetery at Madison with the Rev. Sharon Stevens officiating.
