Miller & Associates wins CDBG contract
The McCook City Council approved Monday night a contract with Miller and Associates to serve as the general administrator of the Community Development Block Grants, Program Stabilization Program.
Miller and Associates will prepare the grant application for the City and the McCook Economic Development Corp. The grants will be funded by the federal Neighborhood Stabilization Program through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009.
If grants are awarded, the city and the MEDC will use the funds to demolish vacant buildings in the city.
A general administrator of funds was required in order to meet CDBG guidelines, according to the City Council information packet.
The city sent out requests for proposals for a grant administrator and received one from Miller and Associates and another from the MEDC. According to the city council packet, the two applicants were rated by city staff and Miller and Associates was overwhelmingly chosen as the firm with the most experience and technical background related to CDBG funding and applications.
Principals chosen to work on the project for Miller and Associates are Jacque Haupt and Candy Kuntz.
At the meeting Monday night, Chris Miller of Miller and Associates asked the council to appoint Candy Kuntz as grant administrator, per recommended guidelines.
