LUDELL, Kan. -- Leslie "Les" Leochner Sr., 87, died Sunday (April 12, 2009) at his home in Ludell.

He was born March 12, 1922, in Ludell to Leonard and Emma M. Leochner. He was the former postmaster at Ludell.

Survivors include his wife, Ruby of Ludell; three sons, Leslie Jr. and wife, Lori of Omaha, Ark., Gary and wife, Vicki of Lecompton, Kan., and Rick and wife, Brenda of Mustang, Okla.; two daughters, Linda and husband, Gary Escher and Janet and husband, Robert Hoover, all of Topeka, Kan.; sister, Elaine Giles of Winnsboro, Texas; sisters-in-law, Ruth Martin of Orandall, Texas and Mabel Bailey of Oberlin; 16 grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; eight step-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be Thursday, 10 a.m., at Redeemer Lutheran Church with the Rev. Don White officiating. Graveside services and interment will be in the Rose Hill-Ludell Cemetery at Ludell. A flag presentation will be by the American Legion, Sam Hubbard Post No. 46 of Atwood.

Memorials may be given to the church, Rawlins County Health Center or Hospice Services Inc.
