JUNIATA -- Melvin A. Nienhueser, 89, died Sunday (March 15, 2009) at Perkins Pavilion Good Samaritan Society Hastings Village.
He was born March 7, 1920, to Henry and Blandina (Einspahr) Nienhueser on a farm near Kenesaw, where he grew up and lived most of his life.
He was baptized and confirmed March 25, 1934, at Wanda Zion Lutheran Church. He attended Wanda Parochial School for eight years.
He farmed all his life in the Juniata and Wanda areas. He retired in 1987.
He was a member of the Wanda Zion Lutheran Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Olinda Borchers and brother, Marvin Nienhueser.
Survivors include his nephew, Merle Borchers of Inver Grove Heights, Minn., and many local relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Thursday at Wanda Zion Lutheran Church in Juniata with the Rev. Harold King officiating. Burial will be in the Wanda Zion Church Cemetery.
Visitation will be 9 a.m. - 9 p.m., Wednesday at Jackson-Wilson Funeral Home in Kenesaw and one hour prior to services Thursday at the church.
Memorials may be given to the Wanda Zion Cemetery or the Lutheran Hour.
