LINCOLN -- Ruth R. Moreau, 81, formerly of Stratton, died Sunday (March 8, 2009) at Lincoln Manor in Lincoln.
She was born June 6, 1927, at Danbury to Coral Archie and Hazel Mary (Weskamp) Matson and moved with her family at an early age to McCook where she attended school.
On Aug. 9, 1945, she married Ivan C. Moreau at Oberlin. She was a homemaker. In later years, she provided childcare in her home.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Archie and Mary Matson; husband, Ivan Moreau; son, David Moreau; two grandsons, Michael Moreau and Bryan Witt; sisters, Mary Price and Gracie Contreras; brothers, James Matson, Chet Matson and Raymond Matson; and son-in-law, David Herron.
Survivors include her children, Johnnie Moreau of Cheyenne, Wyo., Rose Ann Wright and husband, Richard of Holdrege, Rebecca Herron of Lincoln, Cathleen Blanton of Buffalo, Mo., and Colleen McVicker and husband, Mel of Palisade; step-children, LaRae Cameron of Denver, Colo., and Roger Moreau of McCook; sisters, Helen Ahrens of Sealy, Texas, Emma Logan of Leslie, Ark., Lucille Martinez of McCook and Rosie Gonzales of Plattsmouth; brothers, Max Matson of North Platte and Melvin Matson of McCook; 34 grandchildren; 65 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. (MDT) at Forch Funeral Chapel in Benkelman with the Rev. Sean Redmond officiating. Interment will follow services at Rose Hill Cemetery near Stratton.
There will be no visitation. The casket will be open at the chapel prior to services.
