ARAPAHOE --Edward R. Osiecki, 76, of Arapahoe, died Sunday (March 8, 2009) at Tri-County Hospital in Lexington.

He was born Oct. 5, 1932, in Rusk County, Wis., to Peter and Mary (Sieja) Osiecki. He attended country schools and graduated from Weyerhauser High School in Weyerhauser, Wis., in 1951.

Upon graduation he was called into service, serving in the U.S. Army in Japan and Korea. After being discharged, he returned to Wisconsin to farm until moving to Chicago.

On June 1, 1957, he married Barbara C. Wilson in Lenox, Iowa. In 1958, they moved to Iowa were they owned and operated a 24 hour Truck Stop. In 1970, they sold the truck stop, and moved to Golden, Colo. He went to work for Straight Creek Construction Company which was building the Eisenhower Tunnel at the time.

After a year of underground work, he decided to go back to roofing which is the trade he pursued in the Chicago area. At the time, Denver, Colo., was just starting to build the high-rises, so he was involved in the changing of the skyline. In 1981, he joined the maintenance department at Jefferson County Schools in Denver and continue in roofing.

In 1986, his health started to fail and in 1991 he took early retirement. In 1996, they moved to Arapahoe.

He was a member of St. Germanus Catholic Church of Arapahoe and the V.F.W. Post in Golden.

He was preceded in death by his parents, infant daughter, Racheal M., brothers, Walter and Joseph Osiecki and special brother-in-law, Ray Colbeth.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara Osiecki of Arapahoe; sons, Patrick R. and wife, Beverly Osiecki of Aurora, Colo., and Peter L. Osiecki of Phoenix, Ariz.; daughter, Teresa S. Stevenson-Saiz of Phoenix, Ariz.; brothers, Anthony and wife, Sally Osiecki of Hartford, S.D., Frank and wife, Marna Osiecki of Fort Morgan, Colo., and Raymond and wife, Kay Osiecki of West Salem, Wis.; sisters-in-law, Rose Osiecki of Spring Valley, Minn., and Lorraine Helm of Stanberry, Mo.; brother-in-law, Leland and wife, Kay Wilson of Hamilton, Mont.; and seven grandchildren.

Funeral Mass will be Saturday at 10:30 a.m., at St. Germanus Catholic Church in Arapahoe with the Rev. Robert Barnhill officiating. Interment will be at the Arapahoe Cemetery with military rites provided by the local American Legion Posts.

Viewing and visitation will be Thursday from 1 - 8 p.m., Friday from 9 a.m. - 8 p.m., at Wenburg Funeral Home in Arapahoe and prior to the service at the church on Saturday.

Rosary will be Saturday at 9:30 a.m., at the church.
